What is stored on your phone

The app stores only on your device: today's adhkar progress and each counter, favourites, tasbeeh history and streak, your Mushaf reading position and bookmarks, display, language and reminder-time settings, the recitation files you download or listen to in the Mushaf (each verse you hear is kept so it plays offline afterwards), the morning and evening adhkar recordings if you download them, the verse files whose words you listen to in Tasmee, your prayer-time and adhan settings, your rounded location if you ask for prayer times, the adhan file if you choose one from your phone (copied inside the app), your “Blessings on the Prophet ﷺ” and per-khatma reminder settings, and the group khatmas you organize: the group name, the participants’ names you type yourself, their portions and who has finished. None of it reaches us. When you share a khatma (as an image and text), your phone sends it to the app you pick (WhatsApp, Telegram, email or another) when you tap, and it does not pass through us. The khatma message ends with a code holding the group name and portions; when a participant taps “Paste the organizer’s message”, the app reads the clipboard at that moment only, to add their portion on their phone, and never reads the clipboard otherwise. If you create a settings backup, it is a file you save yourself, through your phone's file-saving window, wherever you choose.

Internet use

The app works offline except for listening to and downloading recitation, word audio in Tasmee, and downloading the Tasmee model from Google Play the first time. When listening, your phone connects directly to reciter and audio providers to fetch the audio file and its timings:

• Recitation: mp3quran.net and cdn.islamic.network (recitation files and verse timings), and www.el-hosary.com (the teaching mushaf by Sheikh Al-Husary, from his official website), and archive.org (his teaching mushaf with children repeating, and the morning and evening adhkar recited by Sheikh Mishary Alafasy, from the Internet Archive), and download.quranicaudio.com (the teaching mushaf verse by verse by Sheikhs Al-Husary and Al-Minshawi, from quran.com). In the Mushaf your phone fetches only the part of the surah file for the verse you are listening to, not the whole file.
• Word audio in Tasmee (when you tap a word to hear it, or “Listen to the verse”): quran.com and its audio servers, api.quran.com, api.qurancdn.com, verses.quran.com, download.quranicaudio.com and mirrors.quranicaudio.com (the verse’s word timings and its audio file). The verse file is saved on your phone so words replay without waiting.

Those providers see what any website sees on a visit, such as your IP address and device type, and their own policies apply. The app sends them no identifier of yours and none of your data.

Permissions and why

• Notifications, exact alarms, and rescheduling after a phone restart: to remind you in the morning and evening at the time you choose, and for the adhan at each prayer you turn on. The times are calculated and kept on your phone only.
• Microphone: for Tasmee (you recite and the app checks you) and voice search in the Mushaf. Tasmee is processed on your phone itself, with a recitation-recognition model that is downloaded from Google Play on first use like any other part of the app; the audio is not sent to us or anyone else. Voice search uses your phone's system speech-recognition window (provided by the device maker or Google) and is governed by their policy.
• Approximate location: to compute the Qibla direction with the compass (computed on your phone and not stored), and to calculate prayer times if you ask for them: it is then saved rounded (about a kilometre) on your phone only, is not part of the backup, is never sent anywhere, and you can delete it at any time with “Delete location” on the prayer-times screen. The times themselves are calculated on your phone, offline.
• “Prayer time is near” alert and battery exemption: the alert is a local notification a few minutes before each prayer, as you choose. To make sure alerts arrive, the app opens your phone’s “Battery optimisation” list for you to choose from; it asks for no special permission and changes nothing by itself.
• Background audio, keeping the phone awake, network state: so recitation continues with the screen off, to play the adhan at its time with a notification that has “Stop”, and to know whether a connection exists before downloading.
• Full-screen notification: so the adhan screen appears at the time of each prayer you enable, over the lock screen, with the prayer name and a “Stop” button. It appears only at adhan time and closes when the adhan ends; it is used for nothing else. If you do not allow it, a notification with “Stop” appears instead.
• Vibration: if you choose to have the phone vibrate instead of the adhan while it is on silent.

Every optional permission can be refused or withdrawn in phone settings, and the rest of the app keeps working.

Ads

The app is free and is funded by ads served by Google AdMob in the versions that include them. A version published before ads were added shows no ads and does not contact ad servers.

When ads appear, Google’s library runs inside the app, so Google and its partners may collect from your phone: the Advertising ID, IP address, device and OS type, and how you interact with an ad, to show and measure ads and prevent fraud. We send Google none of your in-app data (progress, favourites, location…), and we never place ads inside adhkar text, the Quran or the reader.

• Your choice: in your phone’s settings (Google → Ads) you can turn off ad personalisation, or reset or delete the advertising ID.
• In Europe and the UK: we ask for your consent with a certified consent form before any personalised ad.

If the ads we use change, we will update this page and the store disclosure before releasing the update.

Sources and content

The adhkar and their gradings, the Mushaf, tafsir and quoted fatwas are content bundled in the app, not your data. The in-app assistant understands your question with a small model that runs on your phone only, and answers only from that content, writing no answer of its own; it never sends your questions anywhere. Your chats with it (your questions only) are kept on your phone only so you can return to them: the last 50 chats, not part of the backup, never sent anywhere, and you can delete them one by one or all at once, or stop keeping them, from “Chats” on the assistant screen.

Children

We collect data from no one, children included. The app has no contact with others and no purchases. It is meant for the general Muslim public and not specifically for children under 13; its ads, when present, are governed by Google’s policy above.

Deleting your data

All your data is on your phone: clear it from the app's settings in your phone (“Clear data”), or uninstall the app. Downloaded recitations and word-audio files can also be deleted inside the app: Settings → Offline recitation → Delete saved. We hold nothing to delete.

Changes to this policy

If what the app does with data changes, we will update this page and its date before releasing the update.
